In recounting a 1998 trip to Israel, WSJ editors report then-Governor Bush as ‘impressed’ by Israeli settlements: ‘What struck me,’ he’s quoted as saying, ‘is the tiny distance between enemy lines and Israel’s population centers. In Texas, some of our driveways are longer than that.’6
